Flight for Life!

As you can read about on the previous page (Photo Evangelism), the Lord has been speaking very clearly to me in recent weeks to get actively involved in the pro-life movement, and it was just a few days ago I was given the vision for the above event. As such, I'd like to share a little bit more about the event with you, and ask you to prayerfully consider participating in some way.

Though the initial vision for this event was to simply bring together a few pilots who would be willing to take a handful of intercessory prayer teams into the air to pray over portions of east Tennessee where I live and where I am developing relationships with several established pro-life organizations, the more I've considered this and discussed it with others, I've come to see that there is also a need for us to have a way to put some faith filled action to the prayers that we pray. In other words, prayer is certainly the most important first step, but if all we do is pray...if we don't, "come down to earth," even as God came to earth and lived among us through Yeshua (Jesus' name in Hebrew), and get involved with our communities regarding the issues that concern us, I believe we may be forgetting some important Biblical principles.

The first of these is found in Matthew 5:14-16, where Yeshua says, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." In like fashion, just before He ascended into heaven, in Mark 16:15, Yeshua says,“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."

That said, we need to be careful as we share our faith with others, to remember Yeshua's purpose in coming to earth in the first place. He declares this purpose when He says in John 12:47, "If anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world!"

So how can we accomplish all of this through, "Flight for Life?" Well, I'm glad you asked!

Some years ago, I was watching a news magazine show on television, and was really impressed by what three different groups of believers they interviewed were doing. The first group, was a group that really loved boating as a hobby, and so they made a decision one day to go out on the water in their boats on their day of worship, and via a sound system, they shared the love of God with other boaters who came by. Before long, they had a pretty sizable crowd, and I couldn't help but laugh with joy in my heart when it came time for the offering, because the boat from which they were preaching held out a large fishing net, and the other boats filed by in single file to drop their offerings in the net!

The second group was a group that really enjoyed skiing, so they gathered on top of a snow covered mountain, had their worship service in the vastness of God's open, "Cathedral," and then skied down the mountain together. In like fashion, the third group all shared a common interest in surfing, so they met in a beach-side building for their service, with surf board stands in the back where surfers could leave their boards, and after the service, they grabbed their boards and hit the waves!

If you've read this far, I think you are beginning to get the picture of what my vision is for, "Flight for Life." Even if it only proves to be a once a year event, which would be fine with me if that's the way the Lord leads, I desire Flight for Life to be an event that is open to the community, where all who come can hear the life changing message of the Gospel. Flight for Life won't be a place to judge or condemn those who disagree with us, but will be an environment were the Light of God's love will be able to flow freely to those who desire it.

If you'd like to be involved  in creating this kind of environment surrounding our shared interests in aviation and finding ways to peacefully put an end to abortion in our lifetime, I welcome your participation. Even if you live in another area of the country, I believe it's the desire of God's heart to see this sort of thing spring up in other locations as well, and I'd love to join forces with you and help you achieve your goals in this regard, both through prayer, as well as sharing my gifts and talents with you as the Lord direct and enables.

Current needs as I see them in this area are as follows.

    1) At least one Airport, Heliport, or a Church building or other facility near an airfield.

   2) Pilots willing to donate their time to take intercessory prayer teams into the air to pray over various regions.

   3) Intercessory prayer teams committed to this work.

   3) Private and corporate sponsors to donate finances or other tangible assets towards this effort.

   4) Vendors with products or services related to the various needs of those who might attend this type of event.

   5) Christians gifted with a talent or testimony they'd like to share as an encouragement to others.

   6) People to provide/prepare refreshments for those who will attend (it would be nice if we could offer free food to those who come, but if needed, we could charge a small fee just to recoup the costs.

   7) I'm sure I've not thought of everything, but I'm open to consider what ever you may have to offer.

Blessings in our Messiah!
